Don't think I've ever seen or handled one Ben, personally I think that Uberti hardware takes a bit of beating

Ben, I take it you're saying that Stafford Hill took Uberti Revolvers and worked on them?

Stafford and Hill patented a barrel (system) that while allowing a forward discharge still prevented anything solid being shot out of the barrel, thereby keeping it outside of the definition of a firearm (at the time).

I was at Frontier City in Hungerford not long after they had gained Home Office approval on the weekend they came down and showed their guns to (the original) JB there, no offence meant to anyone, just clarifying personalities.

They did indeed use Uberti guns to put their patent barrels on, these being the best around at the time, as they still are today and as I think most serious gun folks would agree, and in reality they turned out very few of these guns, Chance I think knows how many were made.
Some you may come across as having 'PAC' in a cartouche on the bottom of the butt, these are still Stafford Hill guns, but they were marketed by Geoff Glass who owned the Peregrine Arms Company at the time and sold them under licence with his cartouche on.

Stafford and Hill would also put their patent barrel on a standard block barrel blank fire gun for an individual and in that respect you may see some large frame Schmitts and some Jaegers and Adlers with a Stafford and Hill barrel, these of course are not 'true' Staffs, but in reality what could be called hybrids, still collectible though all the same, again in reality very few were done this way.
The point being here that given the dearth of supposed 'Stafford and Hills' that abound these days, the reality is that there are very few true ones around and, personally speaking, from all I have seen and heard it is patently obvious that somewhere someone is faking these guns up, so ... let the buyer beware ... !!

Further to this, after Trinty bought the patent from Staff and Hill, there was someone who would if you sent a standard legal BF gun to him, put a pepperpot barrel on for you ... I am not going to mention any names, but again and recently I have seen and heard of supposed guns, supposedly legal that were supposedly done by this guy being on the market as being done by this person, take it from me, they were not, again this guy did very few guns and stopped a very long time ago at the request of the Police in his area  .... someone is apparently faking these now too, not so much just to make money, but probably in an effort to get around the gun laws, again let the buyer beware, not just from the point of view of the price, but from a legal standpoint also.

I pass this on as information and advice only, I have no axes to grind, nothing to gain from telling what is essentially the truth. A respected member of this community has spoken to one of the partners involved in the original manufacture  of these guns and knows the figures concerned regarding the original number of true Staffs turned out and those that were sent for conversion by people, and in that then the truith is undeniable, there is also the fact that some of the models recently seen as supposedly Stafford and Hills, just werent made by them at the time, a simple but telling mistake on the part of the fakers.
