Well, as with everything this poxy government is promising - you should be surfing at 2Mbps "in time for the Olympics" ( http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8012848.stm ). Of course by that point 2Mbps will be godawful slow - my gran could probably run down to Cornwall with an encyclopedia for you quicker! I'm already on 10Mbps and that's not the fastest on offer!
Although judging by previous experience of this government and their promises, I'm willing to bet that if your TV breaks on 27th July 2012 (probably will knowing your luck!), you still won't be in a position to stream the shonky, politically correct excuse for an opening ceremony they'll no doubt have planned, over the internet. Not that you'd really want to anyway; you'd probably cringe and die of embarrassment as some tonk ' historic symbol of London' (such as that world famous Volvo B7TL bus maybe - you know, that one which all people the world over associate with our capital) gets dragged around the stadium.
In fact, the stadium will probably be the only thing that is ready 'in time for the Olympics' - there is at least a competent, British construction firm keeping on top of that one!
Anyway, I digress... Great cut!
