Hi there Boot,you may just be right about the date,but if you look closely at the balustrading in all the pictures it appears to be of the same manufacture,would that be left over after the fire/s or just re-used after the earlier fires??(especially the position of the upper balcony!) |

If you look at the three pictures in sequence, th last one which is dated 1890 has no balcony, then the balcony appears on the 1900 picture, the final picture which is first has a complete stone bilding on the left. This would lead me to believe it was about 1905 which looks about right. Boot. |

The first photo (the one with the buggy outside) is in the book 'The Real Deadwood' and it's clearly marked "The Gem Variety Theater and Dance Hall - Pioneer Days in Deadwood 1897" |
